Clinic Policies
Our clinic policies and procedures are essential to ensuring a smooth schedule, soonest available appointment times, and a welcoming environment for both our clients and their pets. Here’s a detailed explanation of our key policies:
Cancellation
Policy
Please call 24 hours in advance to cancel appointments.
If it is after hours, leave a detailed voicemail, text, or email to the clinic.
Missed, Late, No-Show Appointment Protocol
Our goal at Pawsitive Care Veterinary Clinic is to provide individualized medical care for your pet.
No-shows, late arrivals, and cancellations inconvenience those needing veterinary care access. As a courtesy, we send reminder texts and emails before your appointment. However, we ask that you also take responsibility for your pet’s appointments.
Appointments are in high demand due to the influx of pets acquired during the pandemic. We do our very best to respect your time and provide timely care.
-
No-Show Policy: A No-Show is missing an appointment without canceling it 24 hours in advance and is subject to a $25 fee.
-
Late Arrival Policy: A 10-minute grace period for late appointment arrivals will be granted. After that grace period, the appointment will be assessed a cancellation fee of $25 and rescheduled. Technician appointments offer a 5-minute grace period due to the shortened scheduled appointment length.
Scheduling &
Appointments
-
Scheduling appointments for multiple pets will require an appointment deposit of $25 per pet at the time of booking.
-
New patient appointments will require an appointment deposit of $25 at the time of booking.
-
Clients with excessive cancellations, no-shows, or tardiness will require an appointment deposit of $25.
-
Scheduling for surgical appointments will require a $50-100 deposit, depending on the surgery type.
Patient exams and surgical patients are scheduled by appointment. We are unable to accommodate walk-in appointments.
Our goal is to see all our scheduled patients on time. We have procedures to accommodate unexpected emergencies; however, occasional appointment delays are inevitable. At times, a routine patient exam becomes longer than expected due to the complexity of the health problem presented, resulting in the delay of following appointments. We strive to minimize those delays as much as possible. We sincerely appreciate your patience when this happens. We understand that your time is important.
Payment
Full payment is due at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept all major credit and debit cards, CareCredit, cash, and personal checks.
Rabies Vaccination
Policy
All pets four months and older will require a current Rabies Vaccination. If a patient is due for a Rabies vaccination, one will be administered during the time of the scheduled appointment. If your pet has received a Rabies vaccination at another clinic other than Pawsitive Care, records must be provided to Pawsitive Care. Failure to do so will warrant another Rabies vaccination when the veterinarian sees your pet.
Euthanasia
Euthanasia is an important and necessary procedure meant to prevent unnecessary suffering when animals are terminally ill or injured. As it is a medical procedure, it is ultimately performed at the discretion of the Veterinarian as circumstances warrant. Euthanasia is appropriate when: 1) An animal is terminally ill and can no longer be satisfactorily palliated or managed. 2) An animal is so severely injured or ill that its prognosis for recovery with reasonably and commonly available treatment is very poor, grave, or hopeless. 3) An animal has a condition that can no longer be managed by reasonably and commonly available treatment.
Behavioral euthanasia will only be considered when a documented behavioral plan (constructed by a veterinary behaviorist) has been attempted and failed.
Prescription Request & Pick-Up box
Pawsitive Care offers a 24-hour pickup/dropbox in our front foyer. At the owner's request, paid medications can be picked up in this box. Medications picked up within 30 days will be placed back into inventory.
Audio & Video Recording
Pawsitive Care utilizes video and audio recordings on their premises for safety and for creating medical reports.
Elective & Non-therapeutic Procedures
Pawsitive Care Veterinary Clinic does not perform medically unnecessary or elective and non-therapeutic surgeries. This includes feline declawing, cropping of ears, and docking of tails.
